MOON LETTER #8 : THE PAUSE BEFORE THE PROMISE
New Moon in Libra | October 2026

I question everything. I have strong opinions. I do not follow rules simply because they exist. Yet, I recently admitted something that irritated me. Despite my reputation for being fearless, I spend an absurd amount of energy ensuring I do not make other people uncomfortable. I know what I want to say. But before I say it, I edit. I change words. I explain myself. I anticipate reactions. I try to package my truth so it doesn’t disturb anyone’s peace. I called this consideration. I called it maturity. It was neither. It was self-betrayal. I was making myself uncomfortable so no one else had to be. Once I saw that, I could not ignore it.
UNDER THE LIBRA MOON
Today we have the New Moon under Libera; Venus, its ruler, is retrograde in Scorpio. Libra seeks balance. Scorpio seeks truth. This combination does not support superficial harmony. It demands we look at the structures we have built and ask if they are still standing on solid ground.
We love new beginnings. We love the idea of a fresh start. But before we promise ourselves a new life, we must examine the promises we have already made. .
WHOSE PEACE ARE WE PROTECTING?
We confuse balance with pleasantness. We maintain relationships where one person constantly adjusts to keep the other comfortable. We keep friendships where difficult topics are never discussed. We preserve family dynamics that function only as long as no one questions the status quo. We call this harmony. It is not. It is compliance.
I am not suggesting every disagreement must become a conflict. But there is a difference between choosing your battles and silencing yourself to avoid discomfort. I have stopped editing, and speaking more openly. I question what needs questioning. I share perspectives that may make others uncomfortable; and I have to admit: IT FEELS SOOOOO GOOD; because I am no longer wasting energy managing other people’s emotions. Someone else’s discomfort is not my responsibility.
THIS IS WHAT I HAD TO ADMIT
It is easy to judge others. It is harder to look at our own participation. I have reflected on situations where I knew something was wrong but allowed it to continue. I waited. I tried to understand it, and I gave it room. Then came the regret. Why didn’t I speak up? Why did I allow that? I know better now. I was not responsible for their choices, but I was responsible for mine. I did not always make the right ones.
I acknowledge this without punishing myself. I forgive myself for the boundaries I did not set earlier. I stop giving energy to things that have already shown me who they are. I am done participating in dynamics that drain me. Not because they do not matter, but because I have better things to do with my life.
BEFORE WE PROMISE ANYTHING ELSE
We have to be clear with the fact that not every expectation was forced on us. Sometimes we agreed. We said yes because we loved someone, wanted to help, believe in a cause, or because we thought was the best at the moment. Then we changed. Our needs and understanding evolved. But we continue to act as if the original agreement is permanent. Since when did changing our minds become a moral failure?
Commitments are not disposable, but loyalty is not measured by how much of ourselves we sacrifice. Balance does not mean we absorb the difference so others can remain comfortable.
This Libra New Moon invites us to examine what we value and whether we are living by it. Sometimes the agreement that needs to change is not with another person. It is the one we have made with ourselves about what we are willing to accept.
MIRROR MOMENT
What are you still honoring simply because you once agreed to it? If you were asked to make that same promise today, knowing what you know now, would your answer be the same?
There is no need to rush. Some commitments are worth keeping, while others require a new conversation. Some have taken up enough space.
RITUAL SPARK: THE AGREEMENT REVISITED
For this New Moon, the invitation is not to write a list of desires, but to look at what you are already carrying.
Find a piece of paper, a pen, and a candle. Light your candle. Write down one agreement, expectation, or promise you have been carrying.
Finish these three sentences:
When I made this agreement, I believed…
What I understand today is…
Knowing what I know now, what I’m willing to offer is…
Read what you have written. Does this agreement reflect who you are now? Or are you carrying it because you are accustomed to its weight? You do not need to burn the paper. You do not need to make a declaration. Keep it, revisit it, or use it to start a conversation.
Extinguish your candle safely. Remember, the ritual does not make the decision for you. It gives you a moment to recognize what matters. What you do with that awareness is up to you.
If you wish to use my Let That Shit Go Intentional Candle for this practice, you can find it at the end of this Moon Lettter.
We have built our lives around things we once believed were right. Some still are. Others are not. Figuring out the difference is uncomfortable. People may miss the version of you who was easier to manage. I can love deeply without being responsible for everyone’s comfort with who I am. I can recognize my mistakes without making them my identity. I can forgive myself without pretending I had no responsibility.
Under this Libra New Moon, I am not promising to become a different woman. I am paying attention to the agreements I have already made. Some will stay. Some will change. Some have taken up enough space.
Until the next moon,
Francheska
Come back to yourself.
